MonelK-500 is a nickel-copper Monel that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel400 and gives it greater strength and hardness. MoneK-500 provides 3 times higher yield strength than Monel400. These enhanced properties are mainly achieved by adding aluminum and titanium elements to nickel as the main element and age hardening. During the age hardening process, trace amounts of Ni3 (titanium, aluminum) particles precipitated into the matrix.

Monel R-405 is a nickel-copper alloy. This high-strength, easy-to-process grade 400 contains more sulfur, which improves its processability. While it maintains almost the same corrosion resistance and physical properties as 400, it is best advised to have a slightly different range of mechanical properties.
